41 Long Colt

41 Long Colt Ammo for Sale

Finding 41 Long Colt for sale can be challenging compared with more common revolver cartridges. Steinel’s 41 Long Colt load is made specifically for revolvers chambered in this historic cartridge and is currently available in 50 round boxes.

The current load uses a 196-grain hollow base round nose cast bullet from Bear Creek Supply. The soft-lead projectile is designed to obturate at the lower pressures of this load, helping the bullet engage the rifling while maintaining mild recoil and reasonable accuracy.

This makes the load particularly suitable for light target shooting and recreational use with compatible Colt 41 Long Colt revolvers.

Choosing Modern 41 Long Colt Ammo for Your Revolver

The .41 Long Colt is a historical cartridge, so choosing ammunition requires more attention than simply matching the “.41” designation. It should not be confused with .41 Magnum or .41 Special, which are different cartridges.

Steinel’s 41 Long Colt 196gr Hollow Base Round Nose uses a soft-lead cast bullet and is loaded to approximately 660 FPS from a 4.5-inch barrel. The combination of a hollow-base design and relatively low velocity is intended for mild-recoil shooting in compatible .41 Long Colt revolvers.
