This is our newest 45-70 load and it offers a great option for target shooting with single shot rifles. It was developed for the 1873 “Trapdoor” Springfields and falling blocks. These projectiles are cast from a softer alloy (BHN 16) and are ideal for the lower pressure and velocity of a proper Trapdoor load. Decent bores will stabilize these heavy and long projectiles but severely damaged and/or worn barrels may produce keyholing.
