These 730 grain cast and coated 45-70 projectiles are based on our wildly popular 777 grain Lucky Rams, with a slight weight reduction for additional velocity. These are optimal if your barrel is shorter than 18″, or if you’re unsure it can reliably stabilize its heavier coutnerpart.
Why do you want this much weight? Momentum. Like the 777 grain version, this projectile is capable of acheiving jaw-dropping penetration with your suppressed or unsuppressed 45-70. Our favorite way to launch these: a Wren Metal Works, integrally-suppressed, custom lever gun. These were developed with a bore rider diameter that will easily chamber in all 45-70 chambers, including the shorter throat found on Henry rifles. In addition, the nose profile and crimp groove location have been optimized for lever gun feeding.
