This 45/70 Subsonic load is for those that like to think outside the box. What began as a pestering curiousity, slowly turned into experimentation and exhaustive pressure testing and stability testing across a wide range of velocities. The result: the most interesting 45/70 round on the market. Rifles with the most common 45/70 twist rate of 1:20 (such as the Marlin 1895 and Henry lever action rifles) are able to stabilize this monster of a bullet past 100 yards (18.5″ barrel 1895) with no problem! Some 45/70 rifles have a 1:28 twist- which is too slow for this bullet.
As with all heavy-for-caliber bullets, confirm that your particular fiream can stabilize the projectile prior to shooting through a suppressor. The easiest way to do this is to look at the shape of the hole left on paper targets. Round holes = stable and suppressor safe, oblong or keyholes = not stable enough for suppressor use (in that rifle).
